Having a portrait painted is fun. Here's how it works:
FIRST MEETING, SITTING
I begin by setting up a meeting with you where we can discuss your ideas. We will decide the size, dress, scenery, pose, lighting and overall feel of the painting. If you decide to commission me for a portrait, I will have you sign a contract and pay a non-refundable deposit equaling one third of the cost. Next, I will set up a sitting where I will take reference pictures and do sketches. This should last no more than an hour.
DEVELOPING A SKETCH I will now go back to my studio, create a detailed sketch and set up a time where we can discuss it. PAINTING IN THE STUDIO Once the sketch has been approved, I will spend several weeks working on the final painting in my studio. I can send pictures of my progress as emails so that you can feel confident the painting is developing as we had discussed. |
FINAL APPROVALWhen the painting is finished, I will set up another meeting for final approval. Here we can discuss any small changes that need to be made and we can talk about a frame. Soon after, the framed painting wil be delivered, your satisfaction guaranteed. The rest of the cost will be due at this time. Please know that this is only a guideline and that each step is adapted to your specific needs. I think you will find the process as enjoyable as I do. |
